Watch Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies virtually perform Holst's 'Jupiter'

In-person performances aren't possible right now and the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies' spring concerts at Orchestra Hall were canceled because of COVID-19. This means that GTCYS' 800 young musicians, including 79 graduating seniors, will not have the opportunity to perform together in person.

Performing "Jupiter" from Gustav Holst's The Planets is an annual GTCYS hallmark that spans nearly 20 years. Bringing GTCYS' entire student body together in a mass performance is a moving demonstration of unity, community and beauty.

Typically performed at Orchestra Hall, students fill the stage, line the aisles, and stand antiphonally in the balconies enveloping the audience for a surround-sound experience. It is an unforgettable, life-changing experience for musicians and audience members alike.

Although the musicians aren't able to perform together in person, GTCYS created its first mass virtual performance in celebration of their students and the culmination of the 2019-20 season.
