Seamus Hubbard Flynn from St. Paul, Minn. was a Minnesota Varsity 2016 Showcase Composer and 2017 Featured Composer. He recently got in touch with Classical MPR's Christine Sweet to share his latest news.

I've entered my sophomore year at Brown University, where I've officially declared my concentration in music. This year, I'll be studying composition with Shawn Jaeger and piano with Sang Woo Kang, as well as a host of other curricular and extracurricular activities inside and outside music. This past summer, I wrote a transportation-inspired quartet for the Atlantic Music Festival (listen below) and also had a song cycle performed at Minnesota's Source Song Festival, where I studied with Libby Larsen. The Source Song Festival helped me become more connected to Minnesota's music scene, an atmosphere that remains close to my heart, thanks in part to Minnesota Varsity.
