Valerie Coleman is the founder, composer and flutist of one of the world's premier chamber music ensembles. Coleman was inspired to create the Grammy nominated Imani Winds while navigating the world of student loans and studio apartments in 1997. Today, she has been commissioned to write music for organizations such as The Brooklyn Philharmonic and the Interlochen Arts Academy while continuing her own performing career. The Washington Post named her as one of the "Top 35 Female Composers in Classical Music" in 2017.
