Finnish conductor John Storgards leads Minnesota Orchestra in Shostakovich, Beethoven

Finnish conductor John Storgårds takes the podium this weekend in Minneapolis to lead the Minnesota Orchestra in Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10 and Beethoven's Emperor Piano Concerto, No. 5. Pianist André Watts originally was scheduled to solo in the concerto, but he is ill. Minneapolis native Kenny Broberg, who won the silver medal at the 2017 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, serves as Watts' talented replacement.

The concerts take place at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Orchestra Hall. Friday night's concert also will be broadcast live on Classical Minnesota Public Radio, with host Brian Newhouse.
