Black History Spotlight: R. Nathaniel Dett

R. Nathaniel Dett was a writer, teacher, choral director and pianist. Although he was relatively unknown, he published more than 200 works and dedicated his life to preserving Negro spirituals. Dett was very well educated; In 1908, he became the first African American to graduate from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio.
