Why did you choose this piece? I chose to submit this piece for its wonderful emotions and the journey it offers for me to take the audience on as a performer. The character, Lilian, has just found out a man she loves has returned to his former life of crime, leaving her, and her devotion to him, behind. The song expresses her feelings of frustration, longing, and distress, all of which play into the beautiful dynamics of the piece. My own experience is so different from Lilian's, and by telling her story, I am able to gain insight into the person she is.
