Why do you like to compose?

I like to compose because it is fun to put catchy tunes from my head on to paper. In other words, the best part about composing is seeing a random lick that I've been humming turn into a full piece. Furthermore, I love seeing a piece evolve and gain complexity in ways that I could never have imagined. My goal as a composer is to write catchy music that is fun to listen to. I think that the piece I am submitting fulfils that goal completely. It isn't very technically complex at all. Instead, I wanted it to have a rustic, carefree feeling; similar to the feeling one might get in a tavern. However, while the bulk of the piece does achieve my goal, the middle ended up being completely different. I wanted a section with more emotion and stylistic freedom individual to the player which the faster sections did not yield. Therefore, in the middle sections I deliberately added fewer articulations to give the players more freedom after a pretty one dimensional opening to the piece. I hope you will enjoy the music I have written, and at the very least find it catchy!
