Every weekday at 10 a.m., the hosts at Classical MPR play a standout work based on the theme for the week. We call them Morning Glories.
Five hundred years ago this week, a grassroots movement was born that not only shook the foundations of Roman Catholic Europe and religious practices, it also clearly and forever changed the political, philosophical and cultural world. The Reformation gave new expression to art, literature and music as no other event in modern human history. While Martin Luther is credited as the protagonist of this monumental shift, the effects of the Reformation transcend the bounds of Lutheranism and had a profound effect on liturgical and secular art and music.
On this week's Morning Glories, we commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation with music.
