Tony Ross on Schelomo

In the middle of the second decade of the 20th century, composer Ernest Bloch finished the third piece in a trilogy of works based on Hebrew themes. The final work was titled "Schelomo" (the Hebrew name for Salomon). A ruler in ancient Israel, Salomon was renowned for his wealth and his wisdom.

Ernest Bloch's "Schelomo" will be performed this weekend by the Minnesota Orchestra. The soloist, Tony Ross, joins Steve Staruch in the studio to talk about this important and deeply emotional work.
