Why do you love to perform?

Both for the musician and the audience, music somehow has the ability to transcend the boundary between calculation and sentiment. It astonishes me how a certain vibration matched with another can be exactly scientific, but can still feel genuinely nostalgic or can even bring tears. How is it possible to sit in an auditorium, and suddenly a certain chord elicits an emotion from several years past? The real world moves forward in real time, but only music lets you travel and experience life out of order. I will never outlive the intrigue of music. I love all aspects of my art, including the long hours in the practice room. Those hours represent who I am. I love the hours spent meticulously figuring out the subtle technical differences that can change the emotion the audience perceives. Without my contribution of practice and taking pride in my work, I cannot perform confidently, and rob my audience of the experience they deserve. This is why I love to perform; I learn to connect the dots between technique and expression to show an audience something I would not otherwise be able to communicate.
