Pianist Kimberly Shen from Arden Hills, Minn. was a 2016 Minnesota Varsity Showcase Artist. She recently got in touch with Classical MPR's Christine Sweet to share her latest news.

Ever since participating in Minnesota Varsity, my interest in music has only been growing. Before I entered this competition, I had never even dreamed that someday I would perform live on Minnesota Public Radio. The opportunity to make a recording in a professional studio will forever be a priceless experience for me. The entire Minnesota Varsity experience was truly unique and thrilling, and I encourage any aspiring musician to participate in it. My best memory was the final performance at the Fitzgerald Theater and listening to the other Showcase Artists' performances and interviews.
