Moveable Feast: MilkJam Creamery

Moveable Feast: MilkJam Creamery

It's never too soon in the year to talk ice cream!

The Twin Cities are ice cream towns — I'm convinced we have the best artisan ice cream shops, and more per capita, than any other part of the country, with favorites like Grand Ole Creamery to Sebastian Joe's to Izzy's.

But even in this competitive market, Uptown has been lacking a scoop shop until Sameh Wadi — the chef/owner of Saffron and World Street Kitchen — opened MilkJam Creamery at LynLake.

The flavors are some of the funkiest in town: Thai iced tea, passionfruit/hibiscus, pumpkin brown butter. Wadi is lactose intolerant so he makes a bunch of awesome vegan flavors that use coconut or cashew milk as the base.

Plus ice cream sandwiches made with Glam Doll donuts and boozy ice cream floats. Summer can't come fast enough!
