Voices of Light

Richard Einhorn

Composer Richard Einhorn is best known for "Voices of Light," the score that was retroactively added to accompany the silent film from 1928 by Carl Dreyer titled The Passion of Joan of Arc. The piece has been called a "an overwhelming experience" and "a cinematic and musical triumph."

The Oratorio Society of Minnesota orchestra and chorus perform "Voices of Light" on Friday, April 15, at the Cathedral of St. Paul and again on Friday, April 22, at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis. Both performances coincide with showings of the silent film The Passion of Joan of Arc.

Richard Einhorn joined Steve Staruch in the studio to talk about this modern masterpiece.
