If any choral work impels angels to sing with mortals, it's the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah.
In this video, the famed Mormon Tabernacle Choir 360 strong with a large orchestra may not have celestial choirs at its immediate disposal, but with the help of the Internet, marshals an earthly equivalent.
Last month, the choir invited singers from around the world to upload video performances in their own voice parts of the Hallelujah Chorus to a specified tempo. More than 2,500 singers from countries as wide ranging as Kiribati, Chile, Russia, and England (among dozens of others), did so.
A technology team then integrated the submissions into this moving video of the choir's performance of the chorus as it was joined by well-known YouTube vocalists and led by artistic director Mack Wilberg. The choir released it this past Sunday.
