A few years ago, as Rachel remembers, it was a lot harder than one would think for an office drone to get a decent donut in downtown Minneapolis. She remembers trekking for blocks through the skyway to get to Lone Doughnut, which has since moved out to St. Louis Park.
But the last few years have been good to us! For example, now there's Angel Food Bakery (upstairs from Hell's Kitchen), which offers all sorts of baked goods, among them great doughnuts. If you order in advance, they'll even make letter-shaped doughnuts to spell out a message — makes a fun gift!
Next, Glam Doll Donuts opened on Eat Street — a few blocks out of downtown Minneapolis, but they'll deliver doughnuts there via bicycle for a modest $5 fee.
And just this fall, Bogart's Doughnut Co. of south Minneapolis opened a kiosk in the IDS Center. What a great addition to the vast expanse of underused space that is Crystal Court. They have all sorts of creative flavors — Rachel recommends the brioche dough-raised doughnut with a sweet, brown-butter glaze.
