Stone Arch Collective is made up of teaching artists at MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis. This brand-new ensemble is dedicated to championing under-represented composers and music from non-Western countries. They will be visiting schools in Saint Paul, North Saint Paul, South Saint Paul, and Lakeville.
Music and artistic self-expression should be a human right, and we really believe that music education enables children to exercise that right. We really wanna show a broader slice of classical music, and expose kids to sounds that they might not be familiar with, that might be new to them, and also provide a way for them to connect personally with those sounds. Two of our members were actually inspired to become classical musicians after seeing a concert similar to this in their school. So that just kinda goes to show that anything is possible, and you just never know what impact you'll have on your audience.
