This slimmed-down version of Ladyslipper Ensemble is made up of mezzo-soprano and Artistic Director Sahar Hassan, University of Saint Thomas guitar professor Chris Kachian, and former Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra double bassist, Chris Brown. Their eclectic arrangements range from traditional Arabic songs to George Gershwin to early 20th C. German composer Kurt Weill. They will be visiting schools in Saint Paul, Minneapolis, Lakeville, Maplewood, and Stillwater.
We look forward to exposing a new audience to our music and seeing the curiosity in their eyes. Music brings something enriching to all of our lives, so it's critical to being a whole person. We need to expose kids to all kinds of music because we have a responsibility to essentially teach this generation everything we possibly can about music and the joy it brings to our hearts.
— Sahar Hassan, mezzo soprano and Artistic Director
