Almost every wedding now has its own hashtag, encouraging guests to share their experiences on social media. What couple started this trend? BuzzFeed thinks it's found the pair—in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
In a tweet dated June 2008—when Twitter itself was just a couple of years old—Jon Bohlinger traded tweets with a friend, musing on a potential hashtag for his upcoming nuptials since "I have a ton [of] Social Media Geeks attending."
Bohlinger came up with #BohWed, which he tells BuzzFeed he doesn't even know if people used.
@pce I hadn't thought about hashtags. How about #BohWed ? @slolee is the dt, but I have a ton a Social Media Geeks attending.

Proving that social media traction is not an absolute necessity for a happy union, Bohlinger and his wife Anna are still married, with a young daughter. "I am honored to have launched such a pervasive and strange phenomenon," he told BuzzFeed. "If it's any consolation, I'm sorry for what I have wrought."
Meanwhile, Bohlinger has jumped on another hot trend: he's now CEO of a craft distillery.
