Pierce Huxtable worked with the Top Score team for the past year. I wanted to interview him, find out what music he enjoyed or discovered during his time with the program, and introduce him to you.
Editing an interview into something that sounds like Top Score is a lot of work. Really fun work! But a lot of it. Nearly for the duration of his year here, Pierce took the audio from a fresh interview and turned it into a show. He would edit the interview and add the music. I'd do a final pass, add the voice tracks, and send it to Mark Hinsz for mixing.
This is a highly technical process we call "radio magic."
Pierce's position was funded by a (non-renewable) grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, an award for which Top Score is forever grateful.
He will be missed (although he's still on Classical MPR from time to time). Enjoy our brief conversation!
