Joel Frederiksen is a Minnesota native now living in Germany. He's a singer and lutenist who has recorded with the Waverly Consort and the Boston Camerata. Frederiksen is back in Minnesota as director of the early music program for the Three Bridges International Chamber Music Festival in Duluth.
He spoke with Steve Staruch about the Duluth program, and about the sensuous quality (and the wicked humor) of 17th-century English lute songs.
