Call the Plumber: Handel's Water Music and more

Mark Scannell

Mark Scannell leads a life of service. He's a former Roman Catholic priest and a retired plumbing business manager. These days he's a softball umpire, coordinates social activities at his parish church and is licensed by the state of Minnesota to officiate at weddings. His classical-music experience began with a unique Mozart experience.

Mozart: Symphony No. 39 (excerpt) with Vienna Philharmonic conducted by James Levine. DG 423 086

Biebl: Ave Maria in a performance with Cantus. Cantus 1211

Handel: Overture to Water Music with Tafelmusik conducted by Jeanne Lamon. Sony 92387

Pachelbel: Canon performed by the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. DG 439 513

Next week: Music with Minnesotans features a conversation with Dominick Argento, Pat Solstad and Dale Warland and the radio premiere of Argento's newest work, Seasons.
