Class Notes: How Notes and Beats Go Together

Teaching and learning about the duration of musical notes — their various lengths, names, and how they interact with underlying beats in order to create rhythm — can be challenging. This video was produced to make that process "upbeat" and fun without oversimplifying the basic concepts behind note duration and rhythm.

Teachers may use it in the classroom with the accompanying curriculum, or may ask their students to review the video at home alone or with their parents, who may help to reinforce its content.
