For our weekly feature Moveable Feast, John Birge and Minnesota Monthly's Rachel Hutton talk about where to go and what to eat in Minnesota.

The Minnesota Fringe Festival opened yesterday with hundreds of performances. Where can one go for a quick bite or a refreshing drink? That's what John and Rachel talk about this week.

Fringe Festival venues seem concentrated in the West Bank area of Minneapolis, including Mixed Blood, Theater in the Round, the Southern and Rarig Center.

The West Bank is a great place for craft beer at Town Hall Brewery, Republic, and Acadia. There's also good Ethiopian food at the Red Sea and at the newer Dilla's.

Of course you can hit Palmer's bar, which David Wondrich recently named to Esquire's Best Bars in America list, and aptly captures its ethos:

"There are dives and there are dives in this world. There's the type Guy Fieri calls out, old joints that might not feel like they need to get their hair done before seeing company but are nonetheless fundamentally clean and comfortable and unchallenging. And then there's Palmer's."
