This month, the musical world lost the remarkable conductor Lorin Maazel. He began appearing before the public as a child prodigy who conducted major orchestras starting at age of nine.
During his long career, he would hold some of the most important posts in the musical world, as a conductor and administrator. He was also a composer, and when he died at age 84, he was preparing for this year's Castleton Festival--the music festival he founded in Virginia to foster the talents of rising young performers. This week on Morning Glories, we'll hear five of the many recordings made by this prodigiously talented musician.
