For our weekly feature, "Moveable Feast," Rachel Hutton of Minnesota Monthly joins John Birge to talk about where to go and what to eat in Minnesota.

The Fourth of July is when summer really kicks into high gear, with outdoor eating in full effect! That's why John and Rachel encourage you to try making fancy picnic fare from local chefs' cookbooks. In Minnesota Monthly, Landon Schoenefeld of Haute Dish shares a recipe for a gourmet potato salad with bacon, pickled radishes, and marcona almonds

Spoon River restaurant has its own cookbook, in which one can find a recipe for lamb burgers with garlic, mint and coriander. And Stewart Woodman, one of the people behind Heidi's restaruant in Minneapolis, has a cookbook called Shefzilla that features a faro salad with spinach and pistachios.

If you have time to plan and to prepare, you can borrow these ideas from area chefs — then impress your friends by pawning these recipes off as your own. We won't tell!
