After years of planning and construction, the Twin Cities are finally ready to welcome Metro Transit's Green Line, providing direct light rail service between the downtowns of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Here at Classical MPR, we're proud that the line rolls right past our doorstep. Here's a bird's-eye view of the line, as seen from the fourth floor of Minnesota Public Radio's St. Paul studios. Watch the trains go!

There are lots of opportunities to celebrate the Green Line's debut. Our sister station the Current is presenting a day of live music and festivities at St. Paul's Union Depot. There will be music all along the line; here are the details on where and when the shows are happening, from Union Depot to Target Field. Once you've given the Green Line a go, get ready for Northern Spark!

Update: Metro Transit has announced that due to the stormy weather, outdoor events are canceled. The Current's party at Union Depot is continuing as scheduled, indoors.
