Learning to Listen: Britten's 'The Turn of the Screw'

This weekend, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra performs Benjamin Britten's chamber opera, The Turn of the Screw.

On this week's Learning to Listen, you'll hear the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra play two of Britten's works, and you'll learn a bit more about The Turn of the Screw.

Soprano Sara Jakubiak sings the role of the Governess in this weekend's performance. She stops by Learning to Listen to talk about the story of the opera and the challenges of her role.

Each scene is a variation on that theme, making the entire opera a set of theme and variations.

In addition to that, the story of the opera is an eerie ghost story.
