Chiara Margarita Cozzolani spent much of her life cloistered at the Santa Radegonda convent in Milan. Santa Radegonda was one of a handful of convents in the city well-known for its beautiful music.

I was introduced quite recently to Cozzolani's music, and I find it gorgeously constructed, with stunning melodies.

On today's Learning to Listen, you'll hear her music performed by Magnificat. Magnificat's artistic director, Warren Stewart, is my guest. The ensemble recently finished recording all of Cozzolani's music that survived in full.

Stewart talks about her story and her music. We'll also get a refresher on the order and sections of a Mass (with a little audio help from Bach's B minor Mass).
