Every weekday at 10 a.m., the hosts at Classical MPR play a standout work based on the theme for the week. We call these works Morning Glories.

This is the week of the vernal equinox — and not a moment too soon. On Morning Glories, we'll begin and end the week with two standard works, by Beethoven and Schumann. In between, we'll hear from some composers with less familiar names, but — as their music suggests — no less eager for spring to arrive.

Monday

Ludwig van Beethoven: Violin Sonata No. 5, Spring

Tuesday

Ruud Langgaard: Symphony ("Awakening of Spring")

Wednesday

Josef Suk: Spring

Thursday

Josef Foerster: Springtime and Desire

Friday

Robert Schumann: Symphony No. 1, Spring
