"I am now a junior at Spring Lake Park High School. I performed in Minnesota Varsity with my trio, the Cartesian Trio, in the spring of 2013. It was a phenomenal experience that taught the three of us valuable lessons regarding music in the real world.

"The trio is still very much alive, and will continue to be for the next year before the other members, Luther Warren and Nora Doyle, move on to college. A few weeks after the Minnesota Varsity Showcase Concert, we participated in the 2013 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, held at Notre Dame in Indiana. It was an amazing event to be involved in. We were able to receive very insightful feedback from world-renowned faculty members and to meet some new musicians just like us. We are proud to say that we moved into and participated in the semi-finals! Fischoff was an important step in the development of our trio, emotionally and musically. We plan on participating again next year!

"As a soloist, I continue to participate in as many musical opportunities as possible. Over the summer, I attended my fifth year at the Young Artist World Piano Festival. I had the privilege of having lessons and master classes with Roberto Plano, as well as with the head of the piano faculty at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Eugene Pridonoff. I also continue to enjoy playing French horn in my high school's Wind Ensemble, participating in several jazz bands, leading worship and singing/playing in the contemporary band at my church, and jamming to alternative rock music with friends.

"For the most part, I haven't filled in the details of my future plans quite yet. However, I do know that music will be a part of my life forever. Music is one of the most important gifts I cherish in my life, and I am so glad that I could be a part of Classical MPR's Minnesota Varsity to spread my passion for it. Thank you so much!"

Minnesota Varsity 2014 opens for submissions on Wednesday, Oct. 23. More details will be available on that day.
