The best selling fantasy-adventure novel of 2001 was turned into a movie by Ang Lee in late 2012. It's the story of a young Hindu boy, Pi, in the summer of 1977, surviving a shipwreck with a Bengal tiger named after an Edgar Allen Poe character.

Composer Mychael Danna won the Oscar for best Score, beating out Alexandre Desplat, John Williams and Thomas Newman.
