Alexandre Desplat’s ‘Grand Budapest Hotel’ wins Oscar for Best Original Score

At Sunday night’s Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, the Oscar for Best Original Score was presented—by Julie Andrews, no less—to Alexandre Desplat for The Grand Budapest Hotel. Desplat earned two nominations this year, for Budapest and The Imitation Game. Writing about Desplat’s Budapest score for Classical MPR, Garrett Tiedemann praised the French composer’s “classically-informed flair.”
