Piotr Anderszewski - Fantaisies (Warner Classics)
Polish pianist Piotr Anderszewski has a very strong belief about performing. Every so often, he says, you need to disconnect from this performing muscle. "I feel that if you just go on and on and on and on cultivating this muscle you lose something else, you lose maybe purpose, you lose inspiration, you lose your humanity in a way," Anderszewski says.
That's why it's important to take a break now and then, to take a sabbatical to find that inspiration. "Last year I decided that basically what I would like to do, is walk through Warsaw, with a camera, and film without any scenario, and just walk and film whatever frame that I think would tell a story," Anderszewski says.
This poetic vision of the city where he was born, called, "Warsaw is my Name," features solo piano music from his earlier recordings. It's also offered as a bonus DVD inside Anderszewski's latest release, titled Fantaisies.
