Pianist Simon Blaine-Sauer from Minneapolis was a 2012 Minnesota Varsity Showcase Artist. Classical MPR's Christine Sweet to shares his most recent news.
Simon Blaine-Sauer, piano, 2012 Showcase Artist
Age: 20
Hometown: Minneapolis
Attends: University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisc.
Simon is now a junior in college, taking pre-med science studies. He continued studying piano during his freshman and sophomore years and still loves music, but it has taken somewhat of a back seat to academics and rugby.
His best memory of Minnesota Varsity was how much fun it was to make a professional recording in the Maud Moon Weyerhaeuser Recording Studios. Also, it was wonderful to be part of the 2012 Minnesota Varsity regional tour at the College of St. Benedict, where many of the Benedictine sisters who had attended his annual music recitals there from the time he was seven years old came to see him perform.
