I still want to make a living as a composer. If anything, my musical interests have become more intense since Minnesota Varsity, as I've participated in a greater number of composition opportunities since then: I went to Junior Composers Camp over the summer, I had a piece performed at a Studio Z New Ruckus Composer Night, and I am now entering my second year in both the Schubert Club Composer Mentorship Program and the studio of Abbie Betinis. My current project is a piece for harpist Abigail Hansen, whom I met through Minnesota Varsity. The piece is slated to be performed October 9 on a program of works by the members of NextNotes Lab, which is a new student-run high school composer group affiliated with the American Composers Forum.

My favorite memory of Minnesota Varsity is the reading session. Hearing my piece live for the first time, scribbling on my copy of the score, and asking the musicians to try out various parts in different ways gave me the adrenaline rush of a roller coaster without the fear of death that usually accompanies it.
