Recorder virtuoso, conductor and composer Matthias Maute is the new Artistic Director of the Bach Society of Minnesota. He has made numerous recordings with period instrument ensembles such as Rebel and with his own group, Ensemble Caprice.
His recent recording of Vivaldi choral works garnered Ensemble Caprice a JUNO Award (think of it as the Canadian Grammy). Maute spoke with Classical MPR's Steve Staruch in anticipation of his first concerts with the Bach Society of Minnesota this weekend, Sept. 22, 23 and 25.
