The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra opens its season this week with a concert titled 'Patricia Kopatchinskaja Plays Prokofiev.'
The electric Kopatchinskaja — who, according to Bachtrack, "is incapable of giving a boring performance" — takes center stage as soloist for Prokofiev's imaginative and virtuosic Violin Concerto No. 2.
In addition to the concerto, Mozart's stormy Symphony No. 25 and Bizet's First Symphony, featuring one of the great oboe melodies of all time, played by SPCO Principal Oboe Kathryn Greenbank, provide a powerful opening to the SPCO's 2016-17 season.
