Minnesota Orchestra to offer discounted tickets to cyclists

Minnesota Orchestra violist Sam Bergman on biking to Orchestra Hall

People who bike to Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis will be eligible for a 50 percent discount on selected Minnesota Orchestra concerts this summer. To get a voucher, cyclists simply need to arrive any time the box office is open, wearing biking gear or carrying a helmet.

Violist and keen cyclist Sam Bergman says offering the discounts make sense given the emphasis Minneapolis is placing on making biking easier and safer. "Most of downtown is completely traversable for cyclists, dedicated lanes and such, and it is completely possible to get to Orchestra Hall without ever biking on a street that doesn't have a dedicated lane," Bergman says.

The orchestra's website will list concerts eligible for voucher use. Extra bike racks are planned around Orchestra Hall.
