Morning Glories: The Concours Exams

Every weekday morning at 10 a.m., the hosts at Classical MPR play a standout work based on the theme for the week. We call them Morning Glories.

Each year, Classical Minnesota Public Radio hosts Minnesota Varsity — a high school-level classical music showcase for performers and composers from our broadcast area.

Over the next two weeks, we'll share performances from the 2016 Featured Round Artists each weekday at 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. For this week's Morning Glories, we will look at contest pieces composed for students of the Paris Conservatory for their concours final exams.

Monday

Andre Messager: Solo de Concours

Tuesday

Gabriel Faure: Fantasy for Flute and Orchestra

Wednesday

Gabriel Pierne: Solo de concert

Thursday

Alexandre Guilmant: Morceau symphonique

Friday
