Moveable Feast: Anticipated Restaurants

Moveable Feast: Anticipated Restaurants

Last year, around this time, we said the Lexington in St. Paul was the year's most anticipated restaurant and, as often happens in the restaurant world, a year later it's still not open! They experienced some construction challenges with the building, so we'll move that to this year's list.

It's joined on the list by an out-of-town chain, but having loved their burgers in New York City, I'm excited for Shake Shack at Mall of America, though I suspect lines will be huge.

I'm also looking forward to Erick Harcey of Victory 44 in North Minneapolis coming south to open Upton 43 in Linden Hills. I was passing by a few weeks ago and the door was open so I poked my head in — the space was still rather raw but construction looked to be progressing quickly.

Restaurant Alma is opening a neighboring café that will be a casual spot open all day, offering coffee and baked goods in the morning then transforming into a wine bar at night. It sounds like a similar setup to Lucia's, which has done well with that multi-use model.

The spot I'm most curious about — and has been in the works for months upon months — is Brut, by the chef power couple Erik Anderson and Jamie Malone. It's opening at the former Sapor space on Washington Avenue.
