Music with Minnesotans

For a public defender, it's always a work in progress

Jennifer Workman

Jennifer Workman Jesness is a public defender. If you ever find yourself in court, you want her on your side. She never backs down. (Is it because she studied the clarinet as a kid?)

It is a bit ironic that one of her favorite pieces of music is the "March to the Scaffold" from the Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique. She'll cross-examine the reasons for that piece and share the rest of her personal playlist on this week's Music with Minnesotans.

Mozart: "Adagio" from Clarinet Concerto with the German Chamber Philharmonic and clarinetist, Martin Frost. Bis 1893

Berlioz: "March to the Scaffold" from Symphonie Fantastique with the Cleveland Orchestra conducted by Lorin Maazel. Telarc 80076

Dvorak: "Scherzo" from Symphony No. 9 "From the New World" with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra conducted by Leonard Slatkin. Telarc 82007

Part: "Da Pacem Domine" with the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir conducted by Paul Hillier. HMU 907401

Next week: The inventor and the musician!
