In Mason Williams' song, "Cowboy Buckaroo," he sings that he was raised on matinees on Saturday afternoons, looking up at Hoppy, Gene and Roy.
I could sing a similar song, except that I was looking up at Zarkov, Dale and Flash. And while I was watching their adventures on the planets Mongo and Mars, there was always music playing in the background... this music: "Les Preludes" by Franz Liszt.
You will forgive me if the images I see when I hear it are all black and white space opera. You may not be burdened by these memories, and are free to make up your own images, but if all you see is Buster Crabbe in heroic poses and Charles Middleton with an evil sneer, I understand.
