Congratulations to violinist Hilary Hahn, who has just announced the birth of her first child. Via Facebook on Labor Day, Hahn shared the news that she gave birth in August to a daughter named Zelda.
Hahn, an acclaimed and busy soloist, has been taking a few months' leave, but previously announced that she plans to "spring back into action" in mid-November.
Noting that Hahn's violin case, one of the most-followed Twitter accounts in the classical music world, has failed to comment on the birth, Norman Lebrecht speculates that it might be suffering "displacement anxiety." Today, however, Hahn's team shared some fan art suggesting that the violin case is still a happy part of Hahn's growing family.
