La musica bonita del Cuarteto Latinoamericano

Interview with Cuarteto Latinoamericano

On Thursday night, Michael Barone arranged an interview with Saul Bitran, principal violinist with the Cuarteto Latinoamericano, who had just arrived at the Twin Cities airport.

Saul is one of three brothers from Chile (along with violinist Aron and cellist Alvaro) who, with violist friend Javier Montiel, make up this remarkable ensemble founded to champion the known and unknown chamber music of Latin American composers.

The ensemble had just performed in California the night before, and will appear for the Chamber Music Society of Saint Cloud for a Friday fundraiser (March 20) and Saturday, March 21 concert at Calvary Community Church, located at 1200 Roosevelt Road, Saint Cloud, Minn.

The ensemble's program includes works by Manuel Ponce (Mexico), Francesco Mignone and Heitor Villa-Lobos (Brazil), and Astor Piazzolla and Alberto Ginastera (Argentina).

Saul Bitran chats with Michael about his ensemble and the repertoire they will perform in Saint Cloud.
