Where Are They Now? spotlights Minnesota Varsity Featured and Showcase Artists from 2011 to 2014.
The Drevlow Brothers — Brock, Brayden, and Brett — from Thief River Falls, Minn., have each been a Minnesota Varsity Featured Artist, respectively in 2014, 2013, and 2011. They recently got in touch with Classical MPR's Christine Sweet to share their recent news.
Brock Drevlow, 2014 Featured Artist, Double Bass
Age: 16

I am a junior in high school and take double bass and piano lessons at Concordia College in Moorhead. Since my Minnesota Varsity experience, my double bass has become increasingly important to me. I have been to All-State Orchestra along with performing in the Bemidji and Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestras, and I am now a member of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra. My Minnesota Varsity experience intensified my desire to be a professional double bassist. My future plans include studying double bass performance at a college or conservatory.

Reflecting on my experience with Minnesota Varsity, I have nothing but joyful thoughts! This year I am a senior in high school and planning on attending Concordia College in Moorhead next fall (with the help of the Minnesota Varsity scholarship). Since recording at MPR, my musical experiences have grown remarkably; I was honored to win the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra's Young Artist Solo Competition and performed a piano concerto with them. I plan on entering college next fall as a Piano Performance Major, and strengthening my abilities on violin and organ. The Minnesota Varsity program expanded my view into the life of a professional recording artist and opened many doors into the musical world. Many thanks, and I will always remember my experience!

I am in my sophomore year at Concordia College in Moorhead MN, where I am an Environmental Studies major. I play double bass in the Concordia Orchestra, the percussion ensemble, Jazz Ensembles 1 & 3, and electric slap bass in my band, the "60/40." I also play occasionally in the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra.
