Guitarist Austin Wahl of Minneapolis was a Minnesota Varsity 2011 Showcase Artist. He recently contacted Classical MPR's Christine Sweet to share his recent experiences and thoughts on his career.

Attends: Eastman School of Music, Rochester, N.Y.
Life changes: traveled to Europe for master classes; played a concerto (Fantasia para un gentilhombre by Joaquin Rodrigo) with an orchestra for the first time.
Career goals: to perform and teach around the world, and to be a professor of classical guitar.
Best memory of Minnesota Varsity: There are many of those! But a few of my favorites include visiting MPR studios for the recording and interview, asking all my friends and family to vote, and waiting backstage immediately before the performance, hearing Joshua Weinberg playing the flute!
