My Fair Lady: She Thinks She's Got It!

My Fair Lady

"The difference between a lady and a flower girl is not how she behaves, but how she is treated."

And with that realization, Eliza Doolittle's transformation — and liberation — is complete. Actress Helen Anker embodies that spirit in her feisty portrayal of the famous flower girl of this classic musical, My Fair Lady, now on stage at the Guthrie Theater.

Musical Director Andrew Cooke makes sure Eliza's "heart takes flight" in a lighter, brighter orchestration. And the two of them came to Classical MPR to perform "Wouldn't It Be Loverly" and "I Could Have Danced All Night," and to talk with me about this new production.
