Every weekday at 10 a.m., the hosts at Classical MPR play a standout work based on the theme for the week. We call these works Morning Glories.

This week on Morning Glories, we'll play five pieces related to weddings, as we begin the iconic month of June.

Monday

Rodrigo: Sones en la Giralda
This piece for harp and orchestra was a wedding gift to a harpist. Hear more beloved wedding fare on Learning to Listen, Monday at noon.

Tuesday

Franck: Violin Sonata
Another musical present — the composer presented this sonata to the violinist Eugene Ysaye on the morning of Ysaye's wedding day.

Wednesday

Goldmark: Rustic Wedding Symphony
As the title suggests, this symphony by Karl Goldmark (1830-1915) is filled with buoyant energy and high spirits.

Thursday

St-Saëns: Wedding Cake
One more wedding present — this one in the form of a "waltz-caprice" for piano and orchestra.

Friday

Peter Maxwell Davies: Orkney Wedding with Sunrise
It's a Scottish wedding — so you can guess which musical instrument will be featured.
