Last January when the Minnesota Orchestra won their Grammy for best orchestral performance, the news came out in the middle of a Musical Offering concert. Locked-out members of the orchestra were making music that night and proudly came out on stage before their final piece to make the announcement to a gleeful standing ovation.

Today at noon, I welcome three Musical Offering musicians and members of the reunited Minnesota Orchestra to preview their upcoming Mother's Day concert.

But of course, the concert is focused on the music of woman composers. We talk about the idea of an "all woman composers" concert and if that's sexist, why orchestra musicians need a diet of chamber music, and then I take my role as page-turner for an impromptu performance of a spirited movement from an Englishwoman and student of Vaughan Williams, Madeleine Dring.
