Every weekday morning at 10 a.m., the hosts at Classical MPR play a standout work based on the theme for the week. We call these works Morning Glories.

With Valentine's Day approaching, we'll have four Morning Glories exploring love — and then hear music that you tell us you love on Friday, Feb. 14.

Monday

Couperin: Concert No. 9 "Portrait of Love"
Here Couperin portrays various facets of love, such as charm, vivacity, sweetness, etc.

Tuesday

Finzi: Love's Labour's Lost
Gerald Finzi wrote this music for a radio production of Shakespeare's comedy.

Wednesday

Berlioz: Romeo and Juliet: Love Scene
Another take on Shakespeare--this time for the star-crossed lovers from Verona.

Thursday

Gershwin: Porgy and Bess Suite
There's a long list of operatic lovers: Pelleas and Melisande, Tristan and Isolde . . . Gershwin added Porgy and Bess to the list in 1935, and it's become one of the most popular of 20th-century operas.

Friday

We'll play an audience pick — tune in to hear what it is.
